Bottom Samplers and Dredges
Sampling sediment in open waters for research requires specialised equipment. Our bottom sampling dredges are ideal for sampling of benthic macro organisms in sands, gravel and clays. Also available are core samplers for sediment and sludge sampling.
The simple design of this bottom sediment sampler is the key to its versatility. In shallow waters the sampler can be pushed into the sediment using the handles on the head. If water depth permits, extension handles of 4.5m or 6m can be used to sample from boats or docks. In deeper water, the sampler can be dropped by attaching a line to the clevis located on the head assembly between the handles. A simple valve allows water to flow through the sampler during descent and close tightly when removing the sampler, minimizing sample loss. Corer takes a 50mm diameter sample and measures 50cm long. Ideal for sampling hard bottoms such as sands, gravel and clays, free from vegetation & stones Widely used for quantitative samplings of benthic macro organisms in sand, gravel and clays. The self-tripping sampler features centre-hinged jaws and a spring loaded pin that releases when the sampler makes impact with the bottom. The safety pin prevents premature closing...More
Ideal for soft sediment sampling and sludge sampling off the bottom of a body of water. The Piston sampler is a 1.2 m long tube designed to be pushed into the mud or sediment by hand, to obtain a sample. As the sampler is pushed down, the operator pulls back on the piston rod. This sucks the sediment up into the piston barrel retaining its integrity. A core catcher at the bottom of the sampler prevents the sediment from falling out as the sampler is withdrawn...More
